Bellingham Birth Center

Bellingham Birth Center

Founded in 2004, and with over 1200 births under our roof, Bellingham Birth Center is the most established freestanding birth center in Whatcom County.   Accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers, Bellingham Birth Center has always been a “community birth center,” striving to advance and support the local midwifery community, and providing a setting which makes midwifery care accessible and attractive to a diversity of families. The 8 licensed midwives privileged at Bellingham Birth Center provide personalized, nurturing care in a calm, peaceful setting that feels more like a home than a clinic. It is a wonderful option for women having normal pregnancies who are Bellingham residents, as well as for those in the outlying areas of Ferndale, Lynden, Blaine, Maple Falls, Glacier, Nooksack, the Lummi Reservation, Lummi Island, and the San Juan Islands. Most health insurance companies, including Apple Health/DSHS, cover midwifery care and our birth center.
